Pier Fishing

One of the most convenient ways to fish the Golden Isles is from the region’s ocean piers. Start at theSt. Simons Island Pier and cast your line into the Atlantic to target species like flounder and trout. While you are fishing, you can take advantage of the tray tables and water hoses along the railing to prepare your bait or clean your catch. 

Visit theJekyll Island Fishing Pier for even more ocean fishing and crabbing nearby. Pick up bait, tackle, and fishing gear from the Jekyll Island Fishing Center, located next door. 

Surf Cast Fishing

Find a spot along the beautiful beaches of St Simons and Jekyll Island and cast your line from the shoreline. A variety of fish can be caught from the beach, including impressive-sized redfish in the late summer and fall. 

Kayak Fishing

Rent a kayak for the day and launch into St. Simons tidal rivers, estuaries, and bays for some exceptional fly fishing. Some common fish in these waters include redfish, Spanish mackerel, trout, cobia, tripletail, and jack crevalle. We recommend launching from the South Harrington/ Village Creek boat ramp. Make sure you are familiar with whenlow and high tides occur before you head out.
