The location was ideal if you want to go to the beach daily, as we did! We knew that we wouldn’t be spending a lot of time in the rental, so location was our main draw! The cleanliness and upkeep of the rental could use some work.

We had a good time here but the property needs a little TLC. Carpet is loose is wrinkled in some areas and needs cleaned at the very least. Dishwasher and Washer dryer are rusty and should be replaced. It isn't too far to the beach but it isn't an easy walk. You have to walk through lots of sand and some trees where there were lots of mosquitoes. Happy that it was pet friendly

Great Place! lots of room! 39.5 year old microwave that still works great! They don't build them like they used to! (I've replaced 4 in my current house over 19 years). Great screened in porch! It could use a screen door on the porch door. That would allow the air to flow much better! Note that it's about a 0.4 mile walk to the beach. You can't walk straight out, as the path is overgrown and muddy. The shortest path is out the board walk at the end of the street, turn left on a dunes trail, and get on the 2nd board walk out to the beach. (you can get by the end of the first board walk). The walk to the beach used to be shorter, but it appears that silt/sand from the nearby rivers have filled in and extended the "beach." Alternatives are to just walk or drive over to the Coast Guard Station Public Beach Access #27 on 1st street. They are redoing/rebuilding the bath house, so it only had port-a-potties. It's a little shorter to the beach via a board walk from that parking lot. If you're going to drive to beach access, a better place is Massengale park. The bathrooms were a bit dated, but it had a good boardwalk/floating bridge out to the beach, and good foot washes including a hose for washing chairs, toys, etc. It also has some parking spaces under the trees to keep your car cooler. It seems that there is not a lot of close/easy beach access in St. Simons Island unless you're between Neptune Rd (by The King and Prince Resort) and 11th street. Overall it was a good place to stay!

We have stayed at 221 at least 5 times before. Nice location. Great porch, although the banisters by the screens and along the steps up to the door could use some cleaning, as could the grounds along the steps. A lot of nature's debris. A wall tile in the bathroom is detached and could cause an accident if you don't know to look for it. The interiors are fine. Most of all, again I am very happy with the kindness of the staff at Real Escapes. I've stayed in at least 5 of their other properties and the staff has always gone above and beyond to make my stay very pleasant.
