  Halloween Family-Friendly Activities

In honor of the harvest season on your Georgia getaway to Real Escapes Properties, you may want to spend some time participating in spooky family-friendly activities. The weather is incredible this time of year, which is why a Ghost Walk Walking Tour should make it on your list of things to do in Georgia. The island is known to have a few hauntings here and there, so a ghost tour is a must-do! Without further ado, here are a couple of options for Halloween activities for families.

Lighthouse Trolly Ghost Tours

Get spooked this Halloween season with the Lighthouse Trolly Ghost Tour on St Simons Island, GA. Don’t be surprised if ghosts and goblins come out to play during this 70-minute ghoulish ride-along tour. Listening to haunting tales of the most famous ghost on the island Mary the Wanderer will be one of your favorite nightly activities during your Georgia getaway. You’ll pass by the Indian graveyards, Avenue of Oaks which look hauntingly beautiful in the evenings, and a stop at the infamously haunted St. Simons Lighthouse. When you’re traveling with little ones along during October, this is one of our favorite Halloween family-friendly activities!

Tree Spirits

Do you ever look at an object, notice something different about it, and almost need to do a second glance? While on your Georgia getaway to St. Simons Island you may see haunting faces looking back at you in the large oak trees all around the island. These are the Tree Spirits of St. Simons Island which were carved by artist Keith Jennings in the 1980s. Each face is unique and took up to four days to complete. Some say the spirits are the souls of those who were lost at sea, while others say the faces represent the old soul of the trees. Perhaps you’ll make up your own myths and legends when looking at the spirits. Pick up a map of the tree locations at our office (406 Ocean Boulevard) and spend the day exploring!
