Welcome
to the Best Kept Secret on the East Coast!
| |
|
St.
Simons Island is a study in contrasts. On the South end of
our picturesque island, you will find the Atlantic ocean that
so many of our guests come here to savor. Here is a lovely
little beach community, with small neighborhoods boasting
an almost-forgotten feeling of community. Guests and residents
alike walk and bike down the oak and palm-tree covered lined
lanes and enjoy the feeling of calm and serenity that the
proximity of the ocean always brings.
|
| Still
on the ocean, but more in the middle of St. Simons, is the Village
and Pier area. This section is the "hub" of the island,
with many restaurants and shops and lovely boutiques all located
in a convenient 3 to 4-block radius. You will also find our
fishing pier here and if you arrive at the right time of day,
you can watch the fishermen pulling in their catches or spot
the dolphins playing in the water.
When you drive away from this
area of the island, you will feel that you have stepped back
in time. Drive down Demere Rd. and through the canopy of old
oaks dripping with Spanish moss and you will understand the
lure that has transformed so many city folk into Islanders.
Civilization has still not
touched the North end of St. Simons Island, where you will
find mile after mile of woods and wilderness. If you get very
lucky, you may spot of some of our local wildlife - deer and
armadillo abound there!
Though we host many guests
throughout the year, St. Simons Island is still a place largely
passed over by vacationers, who head for better known locales.
Even as we welcome all the folks who come to enjoy our lovely
home, we would like to see St. Simons Island retain its unique
charm that drew us here to begin with. So, it's okay with
us if some folks decide to travel either up or down the road
and pass us by.
So,
for you adventurous souls - take a detour from the beaten
track and we'll look forward to welcoming you to St. Simons
Island!
